What We Do

General descriptions of the services and products The Lexington Group provides are given below. Please keep in mind, however, that to us each client and each situation is different; we are ready to adapt any of these services and products to a client's needs—or to develop new ones. Many of these products and services incorporate tailored training courses—click on the training button to the left for more information about the courses we offer.

Corporate Environmental and Sustainability Strategy and Policy Development

Recognizing that sustainability considerations can fundamentally impact their companies' cost structures and strategic positioning, senior managers are increasingly seeking ways to integrate sustainability performance into their overall corporate strategies. The Lexington Group specializes in working with senior management to develop and implement corporate environmental and sustainability strategy and policy—often (though not necessarily) using ISO 14001 and other management systems frameworks.

Environmental Strategy and Project Development for Government and Multilateral Institutions

The Lexington Group has worked with government agencies, the private sector, non-profit organizations, and public-private partnerships in the United States and Latin America. We have successfully used our experience and contacts to assist government and multilateral clients in developing strategies and specific projects to improve environmental conditions in their areas of focus.

Corporate and Plant-level ISO 14001 Support

The Lexington Group has extensive experience working with plants from a wide spectrum of industries to build plant-level environmental management systems (EMSs) and obtain ISO 14001 certification. We are also helping several clients pioneer a new approach to ISO 14001: obtaining certification at the corporate level. For large companies with multiple facilities, achieving corporate ISO 14001 certification can significantly reduce certification costs and support a more effective, integrated EMS.

EMS Support for Public Agencies

Increasingly, public agencies that manage natural resources or whose actions have direct impact on the environment are turning to EMSs as a tool for improving and communicating their environmental performance. From our experience in working with the public sector, The Lexington Group understands the challenges and opportunities inherent in EMS development in public agencies, and we tailor our services specifically to meet these needs.

EMS Supply Chain Project Development and Management

For companies undertaking it alone, developing an EMS can be expensive. For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the cost can be prohibitive. The Lexington Group has developed an innovative, multi-company approach to building EMSs based on the supply chain. Companies that are part of a supply chain and/or are located in the same geographic area benefit by jointly participating in EMS development projects composed of just-in-time training and review sessions.

Environmental and Sustainability Performance Measurement and Benchmarking

We believe that a company (or public agency) must be able to define and measure its environmental and sustainability performance in order to integrate sustainability considerations into its operations. We welcome the challenge of working with our clients to develop a "balanced scorecard" of effective performance measures from various perspectives including eco-efficiency, value added, stakeholder satisfaction, and innovation and learning.

The Lexington Group has also developed a tool for clients that wish to benchmark their environmental management practices against best-in-class, or "world-class," standards. Based on these results, we work with our clients to improve their management systems for sustainability, with the goal of adding the maximum value to the organization.

National Environmental Policy Analysis and Support

The experience we gain working with industrial companies, in the U.S. and abroad, to improve their environmental management is a valuable resource to policymakers who are evaluating environmental policy and regulation in light of changing corporate practices. In serving national governments and respected non-governmental organizations, we focus on developing policy solutions that assist industry and government achieve their goals more effectively.
